Roam Mountain Home

Take a stroll in the alleys and side streets of downtown Mountain Home and enjoy the talents of Mountain Home’s many local artists. These murals were made possible by members of the community joining together and creating what is known as the Community Canvas . This project began in 2016 has taken the bare and empty spaces on the local businesses and transformed them into brightly colored works of art.    If you would like to view the amazing outdoor gallery, we suggest that you first stop at one of the local coffee shops,  Etc. located at 290 N. Main Street. After getting a gourmet drink with their signature flavored whipped cream, head behind the building to the alley, where the Community Canvas begins! Don't forget to take a camera,  these murals provide numerous social media moments!

Welcome to the Roam Mountain Home blog! If I had to guess what made you take a glance at this blog, I would bet that you are either a local of Mountain Home or Uncle Sam gave you orders and told you to move here. Either way, everyone that lives in Mountain Home has the same question, “Why in the world is the town named Mountain Home, but the town isn’t even in the mountains?” Well that’s a great question! It’s also a question that you may be even more disappointed with when you hear the answer. Don’t worry, I will fill you in on the epic tale.  A little over 150 years ago the town was named something a bit more fitting for the area, Rattlesnake. Yes, you read that right, Rattlesnake. In short, the owners of the Rocky Bar Mines changed the name to Mountain Home because Rattlesnake doesn’t really draw in a crowd.
